Thank you to everyone who came out and supported us today at our Period Action Day Rally! It would not have been possible without our various student orgs, speakers, volunteers, and e-board team that helped put all of this together. Everyone’s support and efforts are greatly appreciated.
Period Action Day is a day dedicated to raising awareness of period poverty that persists worldwide and taking action. It was started by our national non-profit organization, PERIOD The Menstrual Movement ( @periodmovement ) , in 2019. Today, we are gathered to urge @templeuniv and the State to provide access to safe and free menstrual hygiene products in our communities.
It is on us to call to attention the issue of period poverty in our community, and call on those who have the power to help do what they can to minimize its presence in our community. Make your voices heard and call on your school’s administration, local and state legislators, representatives, and politicians to do what they can with the power they possess and help eradicate period poverty in your community.
We raised $294 and collected 1,509 menstrual products. All of which will be funneled back into our community and organizations like @thespotperiodhub here in Philly. Thank You to anyone who has ever donated to us whether that be in person or through our amazon wishlist (linked in bio). We would not be able to do the work that we do, without our supporters and donations. Take action, make your voices heard, and open the conversation around menstruation!
Over the course of Temple Fest Day 1 and Day 2, PERIOD received 150+ new member signups who are equally as passionate about menstrual equity, and the effects of period poverty in their community. Thankyou to all who came out to support our mission and petition in support of HB-850!
We are so thankful to our members and community for the continued support and efforts put towards our mission. This award not only shows that people see our effort to make this campus and community a better place, but shows an immense amount of support. It means so much to us to be recgonized as an "Outstanding New Student Organization," and we cannot wait to continue advocating for change on campus and in our community.
